Thomas Edison Signed Lightbulb Patent PSA GAI COA
Description
An extraordinarily important and historically significant document representing the pinnacle of scientific genius, presented here is a one-of-a-kind original patent schematic for Thomas Edison's Incandescent Lamp, better known now as the Light Bulb. In September of 1880, Edison signed this partially printed schematic and submitted it to the government of Peru to secure his rights to what would be, arguably, one of the greatest inventions of modern civilization. Measuring 20.5" x 16.5", this document illustrates five electrical distribution systems explaining the function and theory of the incandescent light. Along with witnesses Charles E. Smith and George T. Pickney, Edison has beautifully signed the document in a rich black ink, "Thomas Alva Edison." The newly invented lamp was perfected by Edison less than a year before the submission of this patent, and just a few months prior to the creation of this document Edison had acheived his goal and developed a workable, usable lighting system to perfect his creation. Ironically, due to the complicated and time consuming regulations of the U.S. Patent process, Edison actually received approval for this foreign patent before his marquee invention was secured in the States. Adding to the desirability of this relic, the document stands in exceptional condition, with Edison's immaculate signature rating a perfect "10". This is the first full signature of Edison we have ever seen, and the fact it is on an electrical distribution schematic makes it evermore remarkable. Impressively cloth matted and framed in a "Gallery of History" presentation, complete with two photos of Edison, a small biographical plaque and another plaque detailing the history of the patent application, to an overall size of 42" x 22". An unprecedented opportunity to acquire a truly world-class and historically significant document. LOAs from Global Authentication and PSA/DNA.
