Note: We have tried, so far unsuccessfully, to find more about the person depicted on this drawing. Maya Picasso states only that he was a friend of her father s. It may be that he was a poet or writer or perhaps even a politician involved with the Communist Party with whom Picasso worked at the time.

Authenticity: A certificate by Maya Picasso, Daughter of the artist, accompanies this work and is dated 4th January 2010.

Provenence: Private Collection, Paris ; Madame Suzanne Cymermann, widow of Mr Marty, Perpignan, France. Mr Cybermann militait dans le Mouvement de la Paix 1950-1960.

(As far as we have been able to ascertain this work has never passed through auction and is fresh to the marketplace).
