Still Life of Flowers by Jean Baptiste Monnoyer (1636-1699), 17th Century French Painter who was in the service of Louis IV, King of France. The painting was bought in 1922 in London at Christie's for 4000 Pounds by the late Frederic Roost, Once President of McGraw Hill. The painting was identified as Monnoyer in 1961 by Knoedler & Co., New York. The painting is in a shief shaped English 17th Century carved frame measuring 25" x 47". It has been restored sometime in the late 18th Century. The painting was evaluated in 1973 at the Old Mill Gallery by the Director Geza de Vegh in Trenton Falls, NJ.
