Historic Sketches of the Cattle Trade of the West and Southwest by Joseph Geitling McCoy, promoter and cattle man from the Civil War until 1873. Published Kansas City Mo. Ramsey Millett & Hudson 1874, illustrated by Henry Worral, Topeka. This is considered one of the big 4 on the history of cattle trade. Known in Herd's bibliography as # 1385 and Howes #72 among others, they all recognize the importance of this work, "the outstanding authority on the early phases of this industry, by one of its pioneer operations". This particular volume is complete and in excellent condition. It is tight and sturdy having been professionally restrung by a master book binder who also rebacked the top of the spine. Great illustrations and a tough book to find complete and original. Toning and scattered foxing spots.
