Original 1920s Chicago transit poster to promote travel within Chicago and surrounding areas using the electric rail systems of the Chicago Rapid Transit and the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Lines. Printed by Gugler Litho. Co. Milwaukee. Poster measures 42" x 28 1/4". Professional archival linen backing by J. Fields, NY. Measures 45 1/4" x 31 1/4". Chcago Transit posters, ranging in size from 27” x 40” to billboards 40” x 80”, won awards in the 1920s in New York and London and were widely appreciated and sought after. The designs by Chicago artists were heralded for their beauty, integration of art and message, and the excellence of lithographic printing.
