The following biography is from Crocker Art Museum Store: Birth - 1879 (Bologna, Italy) Death - 1962 (Rome) Lived/Active - United States/Italy Often Known For sculptor-figure-animal Sculptor. Born in Bologna, Italy on Oct. 29, 1879. Lentelli was mainly a self-taught artist. He was teaching at the Arts Students League in NYC and nationally famous when he came to San Francisco in 1915 to participate in the PPIE. Upon arrival, he accepted a teaching position at the Institute of Art where he taught until 1918. While in San Francisco, he did five figures for the façade of the Main Public Library and also a group sculpture for the entrance of the Mission Branch Library. He submitted six equestrian figures and sculptural decorations to the PPIE and redesigned the Market Street lamps in 1916. During the 1950s Lentelli had a studio-home in Rome, Italy.
