This deluxe quality dagger was produced during the gold rush era in San Francisco, California and is a rare highly sought after piece of history being made by the famous knife make Michael Price. It would be a prize to add to any old west knife and dagger enthusiasts collection. The ricasso features the hallmark of Michael Price San Francisco. The guard itself is made of German Silver, and the turned fine deluxe bone handle is in fine condition, adding to its uniqueness. The neck below the guard is made if chased coin silver. Michael Price arrived in San Francisco in 1856. Price began making knives in 1858 . In 1859 Price set up a cutlery shop in the corner of A.J. Taylors firearms store. Who was a popular San Francisco arms dealer. By 1860 Michael was becoming quite popular making knives for miners gamblers, lawmen, politicians, outlaws etc. Michael passed away in April 1889. His iconic knives are highly sought after today and rarely ever come to market.The maker mark is just slightly off kilt as is correct on period original pieces. The dagger is 10 3/4 inches long. The blade is 6 1/8 inches long.
