Description
Rare & Monumental Gallé Mold-Blown Cameo Glass Calla Lily Vase, circa 1920 Marks: Gallé 14 x 14 inches (35.6 x 35.6 cm) LITERATURE: A. Duncan, G. de Bartha, Glass by Gallé, London, 1984, p. 197, pl. 301 (similar example). With its monumental scale and dynamic design, the Calla Lilly vase is one of the most iconic of the mold-blown or soufflé designs produced by Gallé following World War I. The vase was created by blowing the form into a mold and then cutting the design into the layers of glass with acid. This example features a rich color scheme of crimson blossoms emerging from oxblood leaves against a buttercream ground. HID03101062020 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
