Description
A later early 20th Century re-issue of the 1893 Columbian Exposition cast iron mechanical bank, by CT manufacturer J. E. Stevens. It is operational. When the button is depressed, a Native American emerges from hiding, offering to Christopher Columbus a peace pipe. Columbus nods in reply when the penny drops in the slot. Paint is more than likely original. Indian is vibrantly painted. Additional panels on the base of the bank show the vessel Santa Maria in profile, as well as an Indian hunter chasing down a bison on horseback.
Condition
It has rubbing to the finish but is in fair to good overall condition.
