Dump Truck, 1923 Ford Model T. Great cosmetic and running condition. Built on a standard Model T Ford truck and frame. Four cylinder Ford standard engine with High/Low transmission and a 2-speed rear axle. Manual "Gravity" dump: box sits on steel cams located on both sides forward of box center of gravity. When lever release is pulled forward, box dumps. If loaded evenly, box will always dump when full. Weight is always rear of cam on bottom of box. So weight always drops the box. Chains on bottom front edges of box, with compression springs on end serve as "Shock Absorbers." Very clever bit of early 20th Century ingenuity. Truck came from Illinois family of the late Alex MacArthur, said to be related to General Douglas MacArthur, US Army General during WWII. Older restoration and rebuilt as a running condition parade truck. No title on this truck.
