Description
Offered here for your consideration is various artwork and sketches by Victor Clyde Forsythe along with copies of Battle Magazine with his art on the cover. Forsythe was well respected in many fields of the art world, he was a superior illustrator of newspaper comics, a highly regarded "pleine-aire" desert landscape painter and an illustrator of military action. He was also a mentor to Norman Rockwell. This lot includes a self-caricature he sent to a friend who then returned it to him, three very nice "pleine-aire" paintings, and examples of his famous poster from World War I. Only one painting is signed by the artist, but the others are attributed to him, one attribution inscribed on the back of the painting by the family friend to whom he gave it. There is also a plaster cast of his poster and two copies of Battle Magazine that used the poster for the cover. The picture of the helicopter is believed to be by Bill Bender due to his service in Vietnam. Very nice artwork for collectors of militaria, caricatures, and plain old pleasing art. Bid now to get this great art for your home and/or collection!
