Description
Archbishop of Reims 1629-1641, then Duke of Guise, Prince of Joinville and Count of Eu, peer of France. He conspired against Richelieu and was sentenced to death, but fled to Flanders. He governed the Royal Republic of Naples, which was destroyed by the Spanish. Taken prisoner in Spain, he returned to France and became grand chamberlain to Louis XIV.Autograph letter signed and dated Segovia, 26.09.1650 to conseiller de Gourelon.
