Description
Organist and teacher at the Conservatoire. He was a pupil of Camille Saint-Saens and was one of the most important French composers of the pre-impressionist period. His style left its mark on chamber and orchestral music, as well as on chanson and religious music.Autograph letter signed "Gabriel Fauré". Paris, January 17, 1911, 3 pp. in-8°. as director of the Conservatory. Very interesting letter relating to a vocal and instrumental concert of which he sent the composition of the timed program: "Pelléas et Mélisande", "Elégie" for cello, "Clair de lune" for soprano and orchestra, “Shylock".
