Lot Essay

The present timepiece is no ordinary Day-Date 40 model. Cased entirely in noble platinum and fitted with a heavy platinum President bracelet, this timepiece has an olive green dial with applied Eastern Arabic numerals and the day and date wheels in the Arabic script.
Rolex has a history of producing Middle East editions in platinum with Eastern Arabic dials that go way back to the early 1960s, most notably the Ref. 1804 ‘Scheherazade’ (Lot 51, The Dubai Edit auction in April 2021). Exotic and extremely exclusive, over the decades these watches have become extremely collectible and have spawned a huge following among discerning collectors.
It was not until 2016 that Rolex finally decided to introduce the Day-Date 40 'Arabic Dial'. Whilst not limited in production, this special model is only supplied to select dealers in the Middle East and is therefore extremely rare.
