A signed, later printing of "Education of a Princess" by Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia. New York: Halcyon House, 1937. 388 pages. Signed and inscribed on the half title page: "To Jane Wescott/ from/ Grand Duchess Marie/ 1938". Featuring a bookplate from "The Private Collection of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan" on inside front cover. Purple cloth boards, with faded gilt detailing on cover and spine. Deckled edges and numerous black and white photographs throughout; light rubbing to cover, with general page toning throughout. Else, very good with sound binding. Measuring 6.25" x 9.25" x 1.75" overall.
Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna (1890-1958) was a granddaughter of Alexander II, as well as being paternal first cousin to Nicholas II, the last tsar of Russia. She would escape Russia with her husband in 1918, and later emigrated to the United States in 1928. While living in New York City, she published two memoirs: "The Education of a Princess" (1930) and "A Princess in Exile" (1932).
