Description
These two hand-painted calabash husk shells are attributed to Haitian painter and priest (houngan) Andre Pierre. Each shell depicts water spirits conjured in voodoo rituals that are humanized as pirate-like figures decked out in 18th century French military costumes. Signed on each shell: A.P. Written on each shell: Simbi Rouangol.
