A George III pierced silver swing-handled bread / cake basket Burrage Davenport, London 1780 Oval form with flared border and bead rims, the whole pierced with tiered bands of slats between dots and Vitruvian scrolls, the border also with flower head medallions in relief and applied with two ram and two lion masks, the inside sides of the body with drapes and tassels, the cast swing-handle with husk band and bead rims, the centre of the basket engraved with script initials and bright-engraved cartouche, length 34.2cm, weight 33oz.
