Description
A large 19th century French brass repeating carriage clock.The white dial with Roman chapters and Breguet hands over Roman subsidiary dial, the two-train bell-striking movement, with silvered lever platform escapement, engraved in cursive script, "Aiguilles" and "Aig'lle du reveil", over number 5729, the elaborate column case with large bevelled glazing and sloping sides over urn finial-topped projecting sunken hexagonal corners, fluted columns, and projecting base, the rear door decorated with an urn amidst foliage, 7", (18cm) high.
Condition
CR - Small gaps to sides of platform suggest escapement may be later. Case decoration at least partly stamped rather than engraved. Scraped area to underside (erased restorer's mark or postcode?)
