Description
An early 19th century oak and mahogany cased 8 day painted dial longcase clock. W Hartshorne, Bilston circa 1820. Having a 14" broken arched Arabic dial with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar crescent, over inscribed makers name with floral spandrels and beneath landscape to the arch, the movement with Finnemore false plate, the case with swan neck pediment over fluted columns, cross-banded short door between matching columns and panelled base 90" (229cm) high
Condition
Dial - allover crazing. some re-blacking. Light fading to arch. Movement - appears sound. Crutch soldered. Case - hood losses (one block over swan neck missing, finials are missing, tops of swan necks depleted). Crack to one side of trunk, cracks to sides of base, No feet, later plinth.
