DIV./ GENERAL MOTORS/ 8-44" & "P" Proofed on the barrel, "OSP" on the right side of the stock (post-war police issued), "MR" in the sling well & left side of the stock, "JMQ" on the barrel band, "SG" on the rear tang, "EM-Q" on the bayonet lug, WHITE" on the sling and "U.S. CARBINE/ CAL. 30 M1" on the front receiver.
