6th-7th century AD. A cast flat-section brooch formed as an s-curved serpent with head to each end, herringbone pattern to the body, large pellet eyes; remains of pin-lug and catchplate to the reverse. 3.71 grams, 23 mm (1"). Found West Sussex, UK.
