Last quarter 19th century, woven in handspun wool on a cotton foundation in indigo blue, aniline red, and natural brown, grey cream with stepped, terraced triangles and diamonds centering crosses on a banded ground, 3'5'' H x 4'10'' W, est: $5000/6500
Note: Dye-testing analysis by Dr. David Wenger of Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA confirms that sample blue fibers taken from the center and outside were dyed with indigo and that sample red fibers taken from the center and outside were colored with synthetic dyes (please reference accompanying letter and graphs from Dr. Wenger).
