c. 1790 to 1800s Late 18th Century, Miniature Portrait Oil Painting of Lord Nelson, Framed, Choice Extremely Fine.
This impressive, almost “Folk Art” style, quality Miniature Portrait Painting of British Navy Lord Nelson. It is oval in shape and measures approximately 3.25” x 2.5” being housed in a black wooden frame to an overall size of 5.5” x 4.5”. The original glass has been replaced with protective clear plexi. It shows a chest-up pose of Nelson in his colorful and decorative military Naval uniform facing to his left. Colors remain bright and sharp. Minor paint flaking along upper edge and a line through his right shoulder. A beautiful piece for display.
