Abraham Pether (1756-1812), 'A sunset scene with figures on a river side path', oil on canvas, indistinctly signed, 12" x 15.5" Pether was born in Chichester in 1756. He specialised in moonlit scenes, usually English landscapes in the Italianate style. He exhibited widely including works at the Royal Academy between 1784 and 1811.
