A mahogany crossbanded oak thirty hour longcase clock, early 19th century, the 11.5 inch white painted Arabic numeral dial with subsidiary seconds dial, arched calendar aperture and signed 'W. Preddy, Langport' to centre, with polychrome and conch shell painted spandrels and landscape with cottage to arch, the swan neck pedimented case with reeded pilasters to hood above rectangular trunk door and plinth base, 203cm high. NB: William Preddy is recorded in Moore, A J 'The Clockmakrs of Somerset 1650-1900' as working from Langport 1822-39.
