A oak eight-day longcase clock, late 18th century, with four-pillar rack and bell striking movement and 12 inch brass break-arch dial with calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial to the coastal scene engraved centre, within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes and signed 'Thomas Field, Bath' to lower edge, with foliate scroll cast spandrel applied angles and 'Tempus Fugit' engraved silvered boss between dolphin cast mounts to arch, in a flat-top case with moulded cornice, blind fret infill and integral columns to hood over shaped-top trunk door and plain plinth base, 216cm high. NB: Thomas Field is recorded in Moore, A J 'The Clockmakers of Bristol 1650-1900' as working 1766-1812.
