Approximately 1816-1830. Carved Eagle crest over gilt and painted wood face with Roman numeral chapter ring, reverse painted glass lower portion, turned half columns and carved paw feet. Walnut and walnut veneer.
Double weight driven, key wound, bell sound, thirty hour. Parts of original paper label remain. 35" x 17" x 5"
Property of an Orange, Va. estate whose owners are descendants on one family side to Bartlett Yancey, whom Yanceyville, N.C. is named after and Alexander Hugh Holmes Stuart who was U.S. Secretary of the Interior 1850-1853.
