Egypt, 26th Dynasty bronze fish

Saite Period, XXVIth Dynasty, 664 - 525 BC. A bronze latus fish in beautiful light chocolate colored patinated bronze. The sacred fish is recumbent on a curved sled-like base with the front turned up beneath the fish's mouth. On the head is a head-dress of Hathor; crown of uraei, cow's horns and sun-disc. The eyes, gill area and the dorsal fin are carefully incised. Intact. L: 5.5". A very attractive example of this interesting sacred fish with excellent style.
