A choice lot of two (2) lavendar long sleeved white collar shirts, worn by Jones in his starring role as boxer Jack Johnson in the 1970 drama The Great White Hope. Designed by Machin of Los Angeles, the inside of each shirt collar has a sewn-in costume tag that reads, "Tailored Especially For James Earl Jones, Machin Shirtmakers, Los Angeles." Some light soiling on the collars and fading at the shoulders, otherwise in overall fine condition. This costume is from the prestigious collection of Debbie Reynolds and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Debbie Reynolds and Darren Julien of Julien Entertainment. Proceeds from this sale go to benefit The Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
About The Film: James Earl Jones and Jane Alexander were both nominated for their performances in "The Great White Hope". The 1970 Fox film takes place in 1910 where a black boxer becomes world heavyweight champ but has trouble through his affair with a white girl.
