Seven-year-old Margaret O'Brien played Mr. Rochester's daughter, Adele, in this classic 1944 version of JANE EYRE. The film also starred Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine. This detailed child's dress worn by Margaret O'Brien is made of wool in a maroon, red, black, blue and white plaid pattern. Deep red velvet accents the hem, encircles and hangs from the waist and decorates the front and back. The hand made dress hooks in the front with covered buttons as decoration. There are also covered button panels down the left and right front. The dress has a lace collar and lace edging at the wrists. Sewn inside is a cloth label with numbers and the handwritten name M. O'Brien. An image showing the piece in use in the film also comes with the lot. This costume is from the collection of Debbie Reynolds and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Ms. Reynolds. Proceeds from this sale go to benefit The Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
