Dan Dailey Suit from Mother Wore Tights 1947

A handsome 2-piece suit--consisting of a suit jacket with coat tails and pants--worn by Dailey as Frank Burt during the making of (not seen in the film) the 1947 musical Mother Wore Tights. Designed by Charles LeMaire and Orry-Kelly, this performance number features copper satin accents along the trim line and along the sides of the pants. In fine condition, with 20th Century Fox wardrobe labels sewn into the pant waistline that read, "Job 34, Name D. Dailey, Inv. 3-69-3-1848." This costume is from the prestigious collection of Debbie Reynolds and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Debbie Reynolds and Darren Julien of Julien Entertainment. Proceeds from this sale go to benefit The Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
About The Film: Alfred Newman and Charles Henderson won Academy Awards for their contributions to the 1947 Fox film "Mother Wore Tights". This charming family musical featured Betty Grable, Dan Dailey and Mona Freeman bring to the screen the recollections of a vaudeville team and their growing family. The film was also nominated for two other Academy Awards.
