Roddy McDowell Suit Worn The Pied Piper 1942

A child's 2-piece blue wool suit, worn by Roddy McDowell in his childhood role as Ronnie Cavanaugh in the 1942 drama The Pied Piper. Created by designer Dolly Tree, the suit jacket features three patch pockets and a vented back. The pleated shorts which accompany the jacket feature an official 20th Century Fox studio wardrobe tag that reads, "20th Century Fox, A352 3-24-42, R. McDowell, 4-69-1-0978." In fine condition. This costume is from the prestigious collection of Debbie Reynolds and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Debbie Reynolds and Darren Julien of Julien Entertainment. Proceeds from this sale go to benefit The Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
About This Film: Nominated for an Academy award for best picture, as well as two other categories, the Fox 1942 version of "The Pied Piper" starred Monty Woolley, Anne Baxter and Roddy McDowall. Englishman Mr Howard is on a fishing holiday in eastern France when the Germans invade in 1940. Setting off to try and get back home he is persuaded to take along the two Cavanaugh children, and as his journey progresses his family keeps growing in size. Once in German-occupied northern France a new problem arises - the risk of being heard speaking English.
