Description
American RevolutionStunning, Museum-Quality Rev-War Grenade

c. 1776, Revolutionary War Grenade, Very Choice Extremely Fine.
This museum-quality, hollow-cast iron sphere is about the size of a tennis ball, and has a 3” diameter. Grenades of this type were packed with black powder and had a round hole that held a fuse. The fuse was held by a wooden plug, somewhat like a cork, that was split in two, through which the fuse passed. The grenade was lit by a soldier who crept close to the enemy, and hurled the missile at them. This unused grenade is of exemplary quality and would be a superb addition to any collection.
