Rare and Unofficial Washington 42-Star Flag

1889, 42-Star Flag, Commemorating Washington State, Very Fine.
Rare and unofficial 42-star flag with rare pattern. Washington was admitted to the Union on November 11, 1889; however, since flags become official on July 4th, by the time this flag was to be made official, 4 other states had already been admitted. The flag size is 4' x 7.5", is made of wool, and has printed stars and stripes. The colors are very bold with only a few absences. There are 2 grommets on the hoist, both of which are stamped, "Pat'd August 26, 1884". On the other side of the hoist is written, "Farnham". A very nice flag with a very odd star pattern.
