Rarity-7 “The Bank of Michigan” $20 Gem India Proof Detroit, MI, The Bank of Michigan, $20, Gem India Paper Proof. Haxby MI-140 G32. PRF-R7. This important, major Michigan note type from the late 1830's is rare in issued form, and is incredibly rare as a Proof. There were only three impressions in the 1990 ABN Archive sale. It is perhaps the only proof of this type that may be offered for several years. A thin piece of archival Japan tissue in the upper left corner on the blank reverse, otherwise this is a superior example as it is the "C" position of its Underwood, Bald, & Spencer Proof sheet.
