Frank Henry Richardson (American, 1859-1934), 'Net Mender Brittany', oil on canvas, 56" x 70", signed LC and dated 1888-89. Also inscribed verso 'La Fille du Peche 1889' and 'F. H. Richardson 1889'. Label verso from the 61st Annual Exhibition of the Pennsylvania Gallery of Fine Arts, 1891. This exhibition size painting was created at a time when Richardson was showing regularly at the Paris Salon, beginning in 1889. Tears, craquelure and in need of a cleaning. In a period frame with some losses and a later wooden reinforcement backing.
