mahogany with white pine secondary, slant lid opening to interior fitted with shell-carved central prospect door and two outer shell-carved small drawers, Newport, Rhode Island, late 18th century, 41-1/2 x 41 (case) x 21-1/2 in. Original feet and blocking with one replaced block, probably originally fitted with applied molding between feet now missing, replaced brasses, backboards and bottom of bottom drawer, restorations to prospect door including 1/2 in. strip patch top to bottom, patches at hinges, other minor repairs and flaws.
