Description
Modern Folk Art clock, 'Kinetic 7 Man Clock' by Gordon Bradt, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Case: 17" sculptural case, signed 'Bradt' on a small round plaque at the upper right and made of solid brass with small brass figures moving in such a manner that they each perform a function involved with pushing and pulling levers and cranks, all of which appear to be driving the clock mechanism. The '7 man clock' is very similar to the six man (1986), with the addition of the seventh climbing up a coiled spring in the pedestal at the base. The case is made of thin rounded brass pillars, soldered at the intersections with the adjacent posts. The gears are surrounded by coiled brass wiring and the men appear to operate the arbors by hand winding. Dial: Three circular brass wires, two rigid and one in motion make up the dial which has broad reeded brass 'index' style hands. Movement: The gearing is operated by a 4 rpm, 110 volt, 60 cycle electric motor. Item Date:Â circa 1990.
Height:Â 17 inches
