Joseph Yoakum, 1890-1972. English Channel at Le Havre France, Luisitania Ship in Year 1918. Colored pencil, graphite, ink on paper. 24" w x 18" h image only. Nice archival frame is 29.5" w x 23.5" h. There is slight fading around ship and upper right sky. Est. $8,000-10,000 Ship: $35. Yoakum, a self-taught African-Am. and Native Am. When he was 9, Yoakum left home to join the Circus and travel the world. He returned to MO in 1908 and started a family He was drafted into the army in 1918 and afterward, never returned home. Yoakum was committed to a psychiatric hospital in 1946. He was 76 when he started to record his memories in the form of imaginary landscapes.
