Condition/Details: Complete in seven volumes, this scarce set is a series of biographies and histories of those men influential in establishing California and the Western United States. The volumes cover those people influential in the areas of government, agriculture, mines and manufacturers, routes and transportations, commerce, and society. The work is illustrated with many excellent steel engraving portraits, bound into the signatures with cloth so as not to tear. The volumes show light external wear, and are solidly bound with clean pages and some library markings.
