one side stained red, the other side left natural; Europeans versus The Chinese, European king as George III, European queen as Queen Charlotte, European bishops as Christian bishops, European knights as prancing horsemen; Chinese king as the Chinese Emperor, Chinese queen as his consort, Chinese bishops as mandarins, Chinese knights as horsemen, rooks as elephants bearing turrets and flags, European pawns as footsoldiers with swords and shields, Chinese pawns as musketeers, the king 11.5cm high, the pawn 6.5cm high.
