Condition/Details: These two antique volumes are French-language published reports of research done by the Pavie Mission in Indochina in 1879-1985. Vol. I covers the literature of Cambodia, Laos, and Siam (Thailand), and includes many selections from traditional stories of the region. The work is profusely illustrated with drawings to accompany the stories, including many in color and with gilt embellishments, as well as several pages of text in the indigenous script. Vol. II concerns the region's history, and is also illustrated with several renderings of inscriptions and other antiquities. Both books have been professionally bound in brown cloth with some light external wear; the bindings are sturdy and pages are clean with some library markings.
