A great gold damascene cane in an uncommon form. The steel handle is 2 3/4” high and 1 2/3” at its widest. It is elaborately decorated in gold lines, triangles, flowers, foliage, etc., on a black background, all done in the marvelous damascene manner with different shades of gold. The top of the handle is oval, configured at an angle, in an unusual touch. The shaft is black hardwood with a 7/8” horn ferrule. The overall length is 36” and the condition is very good with no apparent loss of the gold decoration. It was fashioned in England with an imported handle from Toledo, Spain, ca 1895.
