Description
Selected photos from a private German album including many ethnographic images of China, Singapore, Borneo, Siam and Hong Kong. 1860s - 1870s. 35 albumen prints. Each image between circa 20 x 27 cm and 14 x 10 cm. Flush-mounted to loose album boards (foxing and slightly soiled), annotated in ink in German above/below images.
An interesting collection comprising portraits of natives of East Asia in their characteristic dress and environments, includng two portraits of the King of Siam, Rama V (1870s) and a very interesting small portrait of the Mikado (emperor) of Japan, probably Emperor Mutsuhito taken by Uchida Kuichi in 1873. - Some faded, especially in edges, some with slight foxing/soiling, otherwise many in good condition.
