Middle Tennessee bureau with the proportions of a sugar chest, Trousdale County, TN. Descended from the Gregory family of Trousdale County. Consisting of a post and panel case, ogee molded top opening to a shallow well, graduated drawers with dovetails, original inlaid escutcheons on each drawer and top well keyhole, resting on ring turned feet. Primary wood - cherry, secondary - tulip poplar. Condition - approx. 2" strip of wood has been replaced on the top rear where the hinges are seated, drawer supports have been rebuilt, the bottom drawer has approx. 1/2" of the drawer sides built up, a later set of drawer knobs have been moved to the original positions and the old holes plugged. Retains an old refinished surface. 33" width x 30" height x 20" depth. Circa 1830-1840.
