Oil on canvas of Winter scene with house and stream, signed 'Ernest Fredericks'. Ernest Fredericks (b. 1877) was born to Swedish parents on a Kansas farm. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and exhibited at the Art Institute. Swedish artist and fellow Kansan, Birger Sandzen of Lindsborg had a great influence on his work. His early paintings were signed Ernest Fredericks, a pseudonym. He made his way to Eureka Springs, Arkansas in later life to paint and teach under his real name of Fred Swedlun. Condition - excellent. Dimensions - 13 1/2" x 10 3/8", frame 16 3/8" x 19 1/2". Early 20th century.
