Miniature watercolor on paper of gentleman, probably American, in a sitting position with the sitter's elbow on a table with a red tablecloth and what appears to be a watch chain around the gentleman's neck. The sitter's coat has painted highlights to show the lapel, buttons, and contours. The painting is in a frame of the same period. Condition - some browning, small tear on the wrist of one hand. Dimensions 2 3/8" x 4 3/4", with frame 4 3/4" x 5 3/4". Early 19th century.
