North Carolina alkaline glazed jar, attributed to Buncombe County, NC. Jar has a dark brown/black glaze near the rim transitioning into a sand brown glaze toward the bottom, two smoothed handles with the number "6" inscribed under one of the handles, denoting the gallon capacity. Condition - excellent. 16" height. Late 19th century.
