Southern stoneware jug stamped  'J.R. Magee', Washington County, Virginia. Found in Marion, Virginia. This jug was exhibited and illustrated in the catalog, Legacy in Clay: Pottery of Washington County, Virginia, William King Regional Arts Center, Abingdon, Virginia. Condition - small firing crack at the base of top handle terminus. This crack does not extend through the handle, indicating a firing flaw versus a hairline separation. Dimensions - 10" height. Mid to late 19th century.
