Chinese ancestor portrait of gentleman in royal attire. Condition - some browning to background. 20" x 34 1/2", frame 22" x 36". Late 19th century/Early 20th century. Chinese ancestor portraits were painted posthumously and were hung in the ancestral halls or temple where they would be honored by the sitters descendents at anniversaries and other special occasions.
